"Move on." nga ika ng ba. Madaling sabihin, mahirap gawin.

...Editorial...
-Iyla Marie D. Ferrer 6- St. Peter
The earthquake in Haiti was probably the worst natural calamity that happened on earth in two centuries. A massive 7.0 magnitude earthquake had struck the nation. Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere and has suffered a number of recent disasters, including hurricanes and storms in 2008 that killed hundreds. The extend of the devastation of the earthquake that hit the country last January 13, 2010 fears that thousands of people may have died.
Aids from many countries, especially the rich nations, were overwhelming. They sent medical teams, rescuers, engineers and support personnel. All of these humanitarian aids were also given to us here in the Philippines when we were struck with great flooding. Earthquakes and floods are some of the natural calamities that happened here on earth.
What causes an earthquake? Earthquakes are caused due to disturbance in the movement of tectonic plates. Trees were stripped off of mountains. Haiti, being a poor nation, use trees as fuel. This nation has lost 98% of its tree cover. It is almost completely brown and bare. This was why Haiti suffers periodic natural occurrence impact like earthquakes and hurricanes.
Like Haiti, Philippines suffers destructive calamities every year. It is situated in this place called the Pacific Ring of Fire. The Marikina fault line lies northeast of MArikina and extends down to the south. An earthquake with a magnitude of 7 or higher is sure to hit Metro Manila but nobody can predict when this may happen. Now, the question is, are we, Filipinos, are ready of this?

The Annual Inter-school Quiz Bee was held last January 22 , 2010 at the De La Salle University Taft Avenue, Manila in which Cainta Catholic College is one of the participants represented by our students.
Patrick Angelo D. Juacalla of IV- St. Aloysius and Rhoniel Anthony D.C. Brondo of III- St. Albert did their best by ranking 7th place in the competition. Fortunately, I am the representative from grade 6 and Greg Andrew V. Octa from grade 5 . We ranked 5th place for the said competition.
I thank our teachers and coaches namely Ms. Jennifer B. Abejero, Ms. Marichu Bautista and Mrs. Rosemarie C. Parayaoan, Grade School computer teachers for being supportive and patient during our review. Of course, I also thank those High School computer teachers coordinator, Mr. Florentino Mercado, Mr. Renato V. Cruz and Ms. Chona F. Cruz who trained our representatives for High School.
Though we never brought home medals and awards, we're still the winner because in our heart it is really a great challenge and a great experience.

The Source of Success
Juliette Michelle Acielo, IV - St. Aloysius Gonzaga
One day I walked across the shore
And looked up to the sky
I paused and felt my heavy heart
I wondered why, oh, why?
Why is it that life must be
A complicated matter
Unjustified as it may seem
I won't feel any better
But is it right for me to think
That lives are as I say
Just because I've suffered so
'Cause things don't go my way
I threw a rock into the sea
Far away, it sank
A rush of thoughts at what I saw
My mind ceased to be blank
I watched the sun and as it rose
It said to me, "There's hope"
There are better things for me to do
Than sob and cry and mope.

CCC : Swept the floors
"Cleanliness becomes more important when godliness is unlikely. "
The grade school department together with the high school department helped each other in cleaning some places in Cainta, Rizal that was held on last December 8, 2009 and started at 1:00 and ended at 2:00 pm. Each grade / year level was assigned in different areas around Cainta. The grade 3 stayed inside the school campus, grade 4 were assigned in the front of our parish, grade 5 cleaned around Teacher's Village while grade 6 were assigned around the Municipal Hall of Cainta.
Everybody was very eager to hold different cleaning materials, some pupils just picked up at he pieces of papers, dry leaves, and candy wrappers. After cleaning, everyone is very thirsty and some are dirty but we were very happy. After cleaning we went back inside the campus. We rested for a while, we also shared different feelings and reactions to each other.
In those kinds of instances students can apply their sense of cooperation and obedience also they can develop their social interaction in everyone around you. Let's practice this in our community so that Mother Nature will be happy too.

Immaculate Conception
Immaculate Conception
By:Hannah Q.De Guzman
6-St.Peter
Immaculate conception is celebrated every 8th of December. Immaculate conception is according to Roman Catholic Dogma, the conception of the Virgin Mary without any stain of original sin. Last December 8 we celebrated the immaculate conception by offering a mass. The holy Eucharist was held at Our Lady Of Light Parish at exactly 10:00 am. The first reading was read by Mrs. Adina Villagracia, the psalm was sang by Mrs. Erlinda Buenavente, the second reading was read by Ms.Marichu Bautista and the prayers of the faithful was read by Mrs. Lorna Ruitas. The holy gospel was from the gospel of saint Luke 1:26-38.The homily of the priest was all about the cleanliness and holiness of Virgin Mary’s life. He also told us about the verbal announcement to Mary by angel Gabriel. But even though Mary is the mother of Jesus she still stayed humble and kind and Mary also live a simple but meaningful life. The priest also told us that there is no exception in following Mary’s life, no matter who you are and who did you live for as long as you have faith. When the priest asked who wants to follow Mary’s life all the people there raised their hands but then he told us its easy to say that you will follow Mary’s life but it’s hard to do. Then in the offertory part lots of flowers were offered. Before the mass has ended Atty. Logan showed us some of the pictures about how did typhoon Ondoy affected Cainta specially Our Lady Of Light Parish and Cainta Catholic College. Sadness were seen in every pupils and teachers faces. But then Atty. Logan told us how the people in the parish helped each other to clean the place and how they helped the affected families. After that the mass has finally ended. But it left happiness in our faces because of that we know ,unity and cooperation are still in every person’s heart.
