In celebration with the Year of the Priests, priests of different provinces stopped over at the Cainta Catholic College Gymnasium as a first part of their Sports fest. The Sports fest is the regional bonding conducted twice a year that is during the semester break and summer.
Priests from Bataan, Angono, Marikina and Pampanga actively participated in games such as Volleyball, Basketball and Table Tennis. Despite seeing them tired and sweaty, their laughter let us feel the sportsmanship and more importantly the friendship between them all. They continued the Sports Fest at Lola Corazon Leisure Farm, Carolaba, Pampanga as the second part of their Regional Bonding. With the theme "Priests: called to be bearers of Passion, Compassion and Service", this event aims to have a team building that will make them more bonded as they continue their vocation.

A journalist's prayer
by: Mariz Ponti
Almighty Father,
We are faced with a great challenge now. A few (months/weeks) ago, more than 40 journalists were massacred in Maguindanao. Never has been a great loss of lives in the journalism industry than that of this incident.
We pray that their souls are given the justice they need. Father, guide and envelope their families with you grace so that they may move on.
Father, we, young journalists, are faced too with a great challenge. Let this not be a hindrance to our dreams and aspirations to continue taking the journalists' path as we announce the truth through media.
Amen.

STRESS MANAGEMENT ORIENTATION PROGRAM
Stress Management Orientation Program
By: Rhea Grace Camton
II – John Chrysostom
Last November 13, 2009 at 3:00 pm, an orientation program was conducted at the CCC Plenary Hall. It was attended by the Grade School and High School Faculty of Cainta Catholic College. Mr. Erlon Cunanan, the guest speaker for the afternoon, lectured about the deadly stressors (causes of stress) and preventive measures that will help us conquer stress.
Atty. Logan did a short introduction before the orientation. She talked about the counseling services the school guidance office offers. By next week, the Ateneo De Manila University will give one on one counseling services for the victims of Typhoon Ondoy. After the introduction, Mr. Cunanan took over. He discussed about stress, the stressors and how to manage it. “Stress is a reason why we age so easily. Stress is the mother to all kinds of diseases.” Stress is now a major health hazard that needs to be properly addressed. Stress is almost everywhere. It is something that nobody can escape. All people – young or old – are exposed to stress. Like Mr. Cunanan said, “Kakambal ito ng buhay.” Prolonged exposure of our body to stress can lead to various diseases or worse – it may even lead to sudden death. It is very essential for us to be aware of the stressors and find ways on how to deal with them.
There major stressors are divided into two groups: the (1) Occupational and the (2) Personal Stressors. Occupational stressors are stress factors caused by a person’s workplace. Stress may come from piles of paper/computer works, dealing with people and managing people. People exposed to occupational stressors, especially those who are too much exposed to the computer are advised to take a 10 minute break every 60 minutes. Too much radiation could cause several diseases, like Bell’s palsy. Personal stressors include money problems, frustration, hatred, grievances, despair, health and family problems, and problems dealing with the feeling of worry, fear, anger, envy and jealousy. These two stressors bring major problems and complications in our body. A person with elevated stress level experiences deterioration of the nervous system, hardening of the arteries, weakening of the immune system, elevation of blood pressure, back pain, headache, migraine, allergies, skin disorders, memory impairment, insomnia, eating disorders and more.
We sure did familiarized ourselves about stress and its’ causes. But the question is, “How are we going to manage stress?” Stress management can be practiced through two ways: (1) Through Major Antidotes and (2) Through a Massage Therapy. There are plenty of stress antidotes. These include the following: (1) Unwind. Find a means of relaxation that you can enjoy. You can do a malling therapy. Nothing is better than going out with your friends after a day of hard work. If it doesn’t fit you, you may simply do a music therapy. Music is proven to lower the blood pressure. It also relaxes the cells of our body. It also prevents depression. Or, you can also try a movie therapy.
(2) Engage in an exercise/sport that you like. Older folks take up ballroom dancing and aerobics. If you’re a bit younger, you may take tyro boxing or martial arts. (3) Always take a week-planned vacation. You can leave the stressful city life and enjoy a day or two out of town. (4) Schedule a quiet time and feel the joy of living. It’s very relaxing to just simply stare at the beauty of nature. A walk all alone by yourself will also help.
(4) Write! Putting all your thoughts and daily experiences on a journal or diary will make you less feel less stressed out. Plus, it enhances your writing skills at the same time.
(5) Get in touch with old friends. You may reach them by means of text messages, through the internet or visit them personally. (6) Pray all the time. The most powerful way of reducing and overcoming stress is by means of prayer. Through prayer, one may seek peace, strength, happiness and consolation from the Lord. Praying earnestly will lighten all your loads. Prayer can take away all your worries. (7) Throw away anger. Forgive and forget. Attitude is the only important factor in handling all sorts of problems. You can’t change the person, but you can always change your attitude towards that person.
Aside from all these antidotes, there is one effective way to make all our days a happy one. No stress at all. How? Smile! J Tell people you love them. Do this effective way to jumpstart your day. Program your mind, look into the mirror and say, “Today, I’ll be a blessing to all.” Practice kindness throughout the day. Instead of blabbering about the wrong things done, why don’t you try looking at things positively? Be a positive thinker and appreciate people; appreciate even the tiniest things they do.
Another way to manage stress is through a massage therapy. A massage therapy makes use of an acupuncture ball massager. The balls are rolled on the acupuncture points all over our body. The balls may be used for people aged 3 onwards. During the orientation, Mr. Cunanan did a demo on how these balls work. After the demo, a draw was held. Mr. Joel Javiniar and Mrs. Cecilia Vinluan led the draw. Eight lucky people were given these acupuncture balls for free. The winners are as follows:
Ms. Zapanta
Ms. Bautista
Ms. Buenavente
Sr. Myrna
Ms. Arisfe
Ms. Agcaoili
Ms. Villiones
Mr. Rodrigo Osorio
After the draw, Mrs. Vinluan gave the closing remarks. She thanked everyone, especially Mr. Cunanan for imparting knowledge to the school faculty. A certificate of recognition was also given to Mr. Cunanan. The orientation program was adjourned at 5:00 pm in the afternoon.

Pasko kasama ang Isang OFW
Pasko Kasama ang Isang OFW
:Janine Diaz II-BEED
May tao ata?

A Box of Apology
Marianne Nunag, IV- St. Aloysius Gonzaga
Reilly – the male protagonist of the story. Being really smart, he doesn’t want to hurt his pride, so he never admits his faults every time he and Rachel argue.
Rachel – the female protagonist and Reilly’s best friend. She was always the first to apologize every time she and Reilly had an argument, even though it wasn’t really her fault.
Jasper – among all of Reilly’s cousins, he is the closest to him. A happy-go-lucky guy who loves watching TV, he’s ready to help his friends anytime, too.
Vincent – Jasper’s elder twin brother, though Jasper looks older than him because of the difference between their height and build. Unlike his brother, he takes his studies seriously, sometimes he even enjoys them.
Glenn – the only girl among Reilly’s cousins. She’s a bit boyish, yet very creative when it comes to arts.
Gary – Reilly’s soft-spoken cousin and Glenn’s younger twin. A true gentleman, he’s ready to help anyone who needs him.
Chapter 1: A Plan
I won’t apologize to her
That’s what Reilly had in his mind as he walked home from school. It’s not my fault that she’s not good in making handicrafts, he thought. So why should I say sorry?
He finally arrived home and found his four cousins in the living room. Jasper was watching TV, Gary was busy doing his homework, Vincent who was sitting on the floor was folding some torn magazine pages, and Glenn, the only girl, was making a necklace. He closed the door angrily behind him, making the four look at him in surprise.
“Rei, you don’t look good,” Jasper said as Reilly slumped on the couch beside him. “What happened?” “You don’t want to know,” Reilly answered, staring blankly at the television.
“Of course we want to know,” Gary said. “Maybe we can help you out.”
The other three nodded in agreement. Reilly looked at each of them, thinking if he should tell them about what happened that morning at school. In the end, he decided not to do so, for he knew everything will be alright the following day, so he shifted his eyes back to the TV.
“Let me guess,” Glenn finally spoke up, tying the ends of a now-finished necklace. “It’s your best friend, isn’t it? Her name’s … Rachel, right?”
Jasper, Gary, and Vincent looked at Reilly expectantly, waiting for him to answer. He sighed in defeat and nodded. Glenn smiled in victory as she cut some nylon thread for her next necklace.
“Tell us about it,” Vincent insisted, said a page from a magazine.
Reilly sighed again before starting. “Rachel let me borrow something she made,” he began. “A flower pendant made of shells. I played with it for a while before I gave it back to her. Suddenly, she was marching angrily to me, saying that I broke her pendant. She showed it to me as a proof.”
“And then?” Vincent asked.
“We began arguing,” Reilly explained. “We didn’t even talk for the rest of the day. It’s not my fault that her pendant broke. Maybe she’s not that good at making at all.”
He saw the scowl on his cousins; faces. “What?”
“Actually, I really think it’s your fault,” Glenn said.
“Yeah” Gary agreed. “You should apologize to her.”
“I’m going to apologize?” Reilly asked in disbelief. “Why would I do that?”
“Because it is your fault,” Vincent said. “You said you played with it for a while, right? That must be the reason why it broke.”
“There’s no way I’m going to…” Reilly started saying.
“Don’t be too proud of yourself!” Jasper suddenly said, slowly beginning to get annoyed.
“And saying that someone is not good really hurts a lot,” Glenn added. “Gee, men really do have high pride.”
Silence fell between the five. The only thing that could be heard was the show from the TV. Reilly pondered on what his cousins said and slowly realized they were right; it was his fault why his best friend’s pendant broke. She had always been the one who apologizes when they argue, even though it really was his fault. This time, I’m going to make sure I’ll be the one to say sorry, he told himself.
Something caught his eye as he looked down to Vincent, who was still busy folding some magazine pages. “What’s that, Vince?” he asked.
“Um…” Vincent said, looking at the folded paper on his hands. “A page from a magazine?”
“No, I mean that.” Reilly said, pointing at a small pile of boxes just beside Vincent.
“Oh, these,” his cousin replied, taking a couple of small boxes from the pile. “They’re origami boxes. It’s actually our project for Art class.” He laughed. “I kinda got addicted in making it, so I made a lot. Plus, Glenn said she’ll put a necklace in each of it, and then she’ll give it to her friends.”
Reilly stared at the box for a long time, thinking hard. Then he shifted his eyes to the necklace Glenn made. An idea suddenly occurred to him. “I got it!” he exclaimed, jumping to his feet.
His cousins looked up to him, surprised. From his pocket, he took out the shells from Rachel’s pendant. “Rachel said I should have these since I was the one who broke it,” he explained. “It’s a good thing I didn’t throw it away while I was walking home.” He turned to his cousins. “I have a plan, guys. And I need your help to do it.”
Will Reilly’s plan succeed? Find out in the next issue.

Indeed, the Hallyu or the Korean wave has struck the Philippines. First, Koreanovelas invaded our country with their beautiful stories of love, friendship, compassion and many others. Aside from that, Koreanovelas featured good-looking guys whom the girls, especially teenagers loved so much.
Korean Pop, K-Pop in short, is now conquering the Philippines. It had begun throughout the early 1990’s and it said to be greatly influenced by the Japanese popular music. Today, K-Pop is alike to American pop music, with hip hop, dance, and R&B as famous genres.
K-Pop is mostly presented by young boy or girl groups, demonstrating awesome dance moves high style and the latest looks. These groups continue to top the Philippine charts with their songs. Super Junior, often referred to as SuJu or SJ is one of these groups. Having thirteen members, it is considered as the largest boy band in the world today. Another one is the Girls’ Generation, a girl group with nine members. It is usually referred to as SNSD, the acronym of its Korean name So Nyeo Shi Dae or So Nyuh Shi Dae and it is said to be the female counterpart of Super Junior. Wonder Girls, the all-female quintet behind the worldwide dance craze, “Nobody”, is also a Korean girl group. Big Bang, a five-member male group, is also known for their upbeat songs, hip hop and R&B styles and for their cool street dancing. 2NE1, the female version of Big Bang, consists of four members, with one of them a Philippine celebrity, Sandara Park. They became popular as their debut song, “Fire” was released. It gained 2 million views on its release date.
K-Pop is often sung in Korean, with some lines in English strategically used to attract attention. At first, K-Pop songs may annoy Filipino listeners since it is in Korean, a language unfamiliar to our nation. Despite this, they depict nice messages that we can relate to in our daily lives.
“I don't care, I'll stop caring about what you're doing wherever you are
From now on I really don't care, I'll get out of the way
From now on don't come to me and cry, and cling on
cause I don't care e e e e e
I don't care e e e e e”
- “I don’t Care” by 2NE1
“Oh I don't care what anyone says
No matter who curses at me, I'll only look at you
If I am born again, it will still be only you
(Tic Toc Tic Toc) Even as time goes by”
- “It’s You” by Super Junior

“Kaibigan Lang Ba?”
By Cedric Ilarina
I
Ano ba talaga ang dapat kong maramdaman,
Sa inyong dalawang magkaibigan
Ano ba ang namamagitan sa inyo
Alin ba talaga ang totoo.
Minsan mong sinabi na
Magkaibigan lang kayo
Magkasama kayo lagi na
Ang napapansin ko.
Nagsalita ako nang minsan
Tungkol sa inyong dalawa
Sinabi mo na mahal mo ako
Totoo ba ang sinasabi mo?
Kanina lang ay nakitang,
Alalang-alala
Kaya ako’y nangangamba lagi
Sa inyong dalawa
Tuwing kayo ay makikita.
II
Ngiti lagi ang nilalabas ko
Pangtanggal kaba si dibdib ko
Ang mga sinabi kong ‘to
Nasasaktan ako, oo
Tuwing magkasama kayo
Pero pilit kong inuunawa
Pagitan sa inyong dalawa
Kaya pakiusap,
Tuwing sinasabi ko ‘to
Gusto ko lang malaman mo
Na ayaw kong masama ang araw mo.
Pero
Dahil gusto pa kitang makasama
Pinapaalam ko lang sa’yo
Mahal na mahal kitang totoo.

Bangon Cainta
By: Alianna Marie F. Santos
Bagong Cainta ang tawag sa bayan natin
Ngunit dapat nga bang itong tawagin?
Isang unos ang nagdaan
At lahat ng tao ay nagulatang
Isang pangyayaring lubos na nagpabahala
At tumatak sa ating ala-ala
Ito ay ang malawakang pagbaha
Na lubos na nakapinsala
Ako, ikaw, tayong lahat
Naging biktima sa sariling pagkakasala
Tapon dito, tapon doon
Kaugalian nating mga Pilipino ngayon
Ngunit dapat nating gumawa ng hakbang
Upang hindi na maulit ang higanti ng Inang Kalikasan
Nagsasabing tayo’y magbago
At maging malinis at maayos ang bayan
Bilang tao, matuto tayong maging mapagmahal
Kahit na tayo’y napinsala at pagal
Magsumikap tayong bumangon at sabihing
Bangon Cainta! Bangon Cainta!
